Playing against an exceptionally strong US team (who all rank in the top 25 amateur players in the world) it was always going to be a challenge but one which Shannon met full on.

Post match report from Scottish Golf:-

Aboyne teenager Shannon McWilliam gains valuable experience as Team USA defeat GB&I to win Curtis Cup at Quaker Ridge.

Video of Shannon:-

Two down and with only 3 holes to play possibly one of the best shots at the Curtis Cup was played by Shannon

Well played Shannon - everyone at Aboyne is so proud of you.

Good luck to our Shannon McWilliam and the GB&I team in the Curtis Cup which starts today (Friday 8th June) at Quaker Ridge, Scarsdale, New York.

Shannon is the only Scot to make the team. She is playing in the final morning fourball match schedule off at 9.29AM (US time).

In this, the 40th running of the biennial women’s international match, GB&I is seeking a ninth win after a superb 11.5 to 8.5 victory at Dun Laoghaire in Dublin two years ago.

The Curtis Cup is played over three days with eight singles matches, six foursomes matches and six fourballs matches. The United States leads the overall series 28-8 with 3 draws.

Quaker Ridge Golf Club was founded in 1916. The course is known for its narrow fairways.
